.. as for James Hamptons' actual birthdate, this was taken directly
from his headstone, so we feel pretty confident that it is accurate. It
says he was born Feb 22, 1822. He was a farmer in Conecuh Co., AL, and
that's about as far back as we can figure.

He did have 4 kids, William, Samuel Hampton, James Thomas & Daniel (my
direct line). Sometime prior to 1858, they migrated to Polk Co., TX (which
later became Hardin Co.), and had some more kids.

Before arriving in TX, Richard FUQUA (age 16) & Coleman Overstreet (age 26),
were also listed on the census in the James Hampton O. home.

Also, in the 1860 Hardin Co., TX census, these two fellows were with them.

We really haven't been able to establish what their relationship to James
Hampton was.

Now, "the big story", is how James Hampton got to AL, and with whom? If we
could ever get past that part, we'd be in business!!!
